Dream Team
Year 6 Enterprise Day
Year 6 have been creating their own business opportunities. Each group was given a maximum of £10 to use to buy whatever they needed to run their businesses. The children were then responsible for doing all of their own shopping to get everything that they needed. They came up with some brilliant ideas and every group made a profit! The total profit was a massive £124.
Well done Year 6!

Welcome back to the final half term at Barlborough!
We have got a lot of fun things planned for this half term but there is a lot of hard work to be done as well. During the next 2 weeks, we will be working very hard on writing as the final writing assessments need to be completed during June.

RE Trip
To start our unit of work on Islam, we visited Derby Open Centre and Mosque. We found out about the different parts of the Mosque and the importance of the writing and symbols inside. Then we learned how to write our names in Arabic and made badges with our names on. Finally, we learned about he Hajj pilgrimage and why it is important to Muslims. We looked at the clothes they wear for Hajj and tried them on. Mrs Biggin was really impressed with the interest that the children showed in the subject and the respect that they showed for the Islamic religion.

'Stand Up Bolsover' day
The Dream Team have had a fantastic time taking part in 'Stand Up Bolsover' day. They worked on their Kung Fu punctuation in English and demonstrated the moves for each punctuation mark to the rest of Key Stage 2 in assembly. They had to apply their athletics skills in maths to measure their jumps for the standing long jump, triple jump and vertical jump. They then had to convert their measurements to other metric units for length. They took part in the golden mile showing that their stamina was fantastic! In the afternoon, they did a Tag Rugby lesson with our sports coach. They also took part in a Salsa routine during their lesson on Spanish culture and rounded off the day by taking part in a whole school movement session with our dance coach Rich Hawke. The aim of the day was to make sure children were active for 50% of the time. We think the Dream Team were probably active for at least 90% of the day so a very big well done to them all!
Mission Explore
We have been practising our map reading skills by completing an orienteering course on the field. In our groups, we had to use the map to locate some hidden letters and then arrange the letters into a word. You can see that we had a lot of fun working in our groups to complete the challenge!
