Football - October 2022

 Well done to the year 5/6 mixed football, who in awful, conditions, this afternoon finished in a very credible 4th Place in the partnership finals.

Cross Country - October 2022

This afternoon our 4 cross country teams did a fabulous job and showed great support to each other and all the others schools. Overall Year 3/4 girls were runners up and Year 5/6 were winners in both boys and girls, another amazing sporting achievement for Barlborough, congratulations to them all.

This afternoon the year 5/6 girls football team played with smiles on their faces throughout their football tournament.

This afternoon our year 5/6 mixed football team were unbeaten and finished 2nd, meaning they now progress to the partnership finals later in the term.

Dynamos Cricket Competition - July 2022

This afternoon the year 5 girls cricket team came 2nd, supporting each other through every match. 

Tag Rugby - March 2022

 Today the year 5 Tag Rugby team represented the school with enthusiasm and determination and were awarded a Spirit of the Games Award for their improved performances and teamwork.

Basketball - March 2022

 This afternoon our mixed year 6 basketball team finished 4th overall out of 10 schools in Derbyshire at county finals, showing great determination and teamwork. 

Mini-leader Training - October 2019

 This morning our new mini-leaders received their training, they are now ready to support the school during lunchtimes, they all worked well as a team and learnt some new skills. Well done Mini-Leaders.

Cross Country - October 2019

 This afternoon Mrs Gilbert and Mr Fidler took 24 children to Heritage to compete in Cross Country. All of the children were eager to race and paced themselves well with the Year 3/4 Girls coming 1st overall, Years 3/4 Boys coming 2nd overall and Years 5/6 girls and boys both coming 3rd overall. We had some fantastic runners who beat their own personal targets from last year. Well done team Barlborough.

Stand Up Derbyshire Day - September 2019

 As a school we took part in Stand Up Derbyshire day again this year, making as much of the day active. This was particularly difficult as the weather was against us with rain forecast for the whole day. Each class started the day with a cosmic kids yoga journey. Mr Fidler and our school Playmakers then led an assembly which saw the children dance around to the Purple Stew song from Gonoodle, During lunch and break times the children took part in physical personal challenges, the daily mile and danced to music on the playground. During the afternoon each class competed at an obstacle course in the village hall. It was lovely to see all the new playmakers taking on their new roles and directing the activities throughout the day. A great day had by all despite the miserable weather.

Football - September 2019

 This afternoon years 5 and 6 went to Whitwell Primary to represent our school in our 1st Tournament of the season. They all performed well in the windy conditions, winning their 1st game, drew their 2nd and lost their last game, making them 3rd overall. Great team work Barlborough.

Quadkids - June 2019

 Wow today we went to our last Tournament of the year. These 8 Year 6 children attended the District Quadkids finals after only qualifying 48hours prior because of rubbish weather this season. They did themselves and our school proud today, giving 100% on and off the track. They paced themselves when they needed to, dug deep and pushed themselves as each point from every member counted. We even had 1 boy and girl very close to beating district Quadkids Howler Javelin records. Coming 5th out of 16 teams was a fantastic achievement and a great way to end a fabulous season of sporting events.

Kwik Cricket - June 2019

 Today our Kwik Cricket Team went to Whitwell for our penultimate competition of the season. They worked hard as a team and came 2nd overall.

Dearne Valley - June 2019

 This week our Year 5 children went to Dearne Valley for 3 days to action packed fun with lots of opportunities to try new and exciting sports. All of the children had a fabulous time and were well behaved. well done Year 5 for pushing your boundaries and trying new things.

Basketball - April 2019

Today 10 Year children represented Barlborough at a basketball tournament in Sheffield. They worked hard as a team arranging subs for each match fairly as well as using each others strengths to their advantage. Out of 12 teams they came 5th, Well done Year 6 a great way to kick start our final term this academic year.

Infant Agility - April 2019

 This afternoon 10 Year 2 children represented us in our cluster Infant Agility Tournament. They all worked hard and supported each other during the afternoons races. fantastic team work Year 2

Cross Country County Final - April 2019

 Today our talented runners took part in our final Cross Country race of the season, we travelled to Mount St Marys, Spinkhill to take part in the Cross Country County Final. Our teams have worked hard all season with this being their aim and today they didn't disappoint. All our teams and individuals paced themselves well, worked together as a team and supported each other on and off the field. Congratulations to our Y3-4 Girls who came 1st overall, our Y3-4 Boys coming 3rd, Y5-6 girls coming 2nd, and our 5-6 Boy who came 22/40 running as an individual. You were all amazing, well done great team spirit, Go Team Barlborough.

Year 6 Dance Festival - March 2019

 This morning Year 6 travelled to derby to perform in a dance completion, With a slick well rehearsed routine they came 2nd, missing out on a victory by 1 point. They showed great team spirit and respect for all the other acts performing. Well done year 6.

Year 1 Dance Festival - March 2019

 This afternoon our Year 1 pupils went to Heritage to perform in an infant dance festival, they were all extremely well behaved and performed a fantastic Grease Medley routine, well done Year 1 you were amazing.

Cross Country March - 2019

 Today was our final race of the season, again we worked as a team, supporting each other and again came away with lots of medals. our year 1/2 girls, 1/2 boys and 5/6 girls all came 1st and our 5/6 boys came 4th. Another fantastic season, 3 teams will progress to the district finals at Mount St Marys, Spinkhill in April.

Cross Country February - 2019

Tonight was the return to cross country after the winter break, we blew the cobwebs away with 4 fantastic races on a very chilly evening. our year 3/4 girls, 3/4/ boys and 5/6 girls all came 1st again tonight and our 5/6 boys came 3rd. Congratulations to our fabulous runners, 1 more race to go.......

Boccia - February 2019

 This afternoon 2 teams of 3 children entered our cluster Boccia tournament. 8 teams took part and after a wonderful afternoon, we triumphed and came 1st and 3rd.

Sports Hall Athletics - January 2019

 Tonight our athletics team travelled to Bolsover to the country final, this is always a fast paced event with teams moving up and down the leader board. Our pupils fought hard together as a team and won some amazing races in great times. It came down to the last event between 3 schools. We were runners up missing out by just 1 point. Well done Team Barlborough.

Tag Rugby - January 2019

This afternoon our year 5/6 Tag Rugby team travelled to Chesterfield Panthers to take part in the District final, they all performed amazingly well and were crowned District Champions. Another set of medals for their hard work and perseverance.

Sports Hall Athletics - November 2018

 Tonight our athletics team were crowned champions of our cluster and will progress to county finals in January. They worked as a team showing courage, determination and trust in each other. well done Team Barlborough.

Bikeability - November/December 2018

Well done to all our children who have completed their Bikeability training. You have done so well in this extremely cold weather, the instructors have all commented on how well behaved you have been. They all recieved a bikeability award, well done to all the children involved.

This week our Tag Rugby team played amazingly against 3 other schools in our cluster, winning all their matches with great teamwork, communicating well with each other throughout the event, they now progress to the next stage later in the year. 

Cross Country - October 2018

Tonight was our 2nd race of the season, not only did we see some great running tonight, we also witnessed some fantastic perseverance. Tonight saw our year 3/4 boys and 5/6 girls take 1st place, our 3/4 girls take 2nd and our 5/6 boys take 3rd place. The cross country season will continue in the spring when the nights become lighter

Football Tournament - October 2018

This week our boys football team went to Shirebrook and took part in a tournament against 11 other schools. They worked as a team to win 3, draw 2 and lose 1 match showing great stamina and determination to finally after a long evening come 4th overall. Great job boys

KS1 Sports Festival - September 2018

Today our Year 2s went to Heritage to take part in a sports festival, all the children took part in a wide range of sports such as javelin, boccia, seated volleyball, table cricket and relay races to name a few. It was a fabulous afternoon where the children all showcased great teamwork, agility and strength.

 This afternoon our boys 5/6 1st team were runners up in our cluster tournament, Well done boys, great team spirit today.

Cross country - September 18

Today was our 1st cross country race of the season, currently our boys 1/2 and girls 5/6 our top of the league, our 1/2 girls are 2nd and 5/6 boys are 5th. Well done to all 4 teams a great start to the season 

Stand Up Derbyshire Day - September 2018

As a school we all took part in Stand Up Derbyshire day, making as much of the day active, with a class warm up to start the day, an assembly which saw the children dance around to the superman song, outside lessons with the children moving around the playground, decorating active rocks, taking part in physical personal challenges at break and lunch, competing at the obstacle course up on the field. To finish the day a whole school dance workout on the playground in which parents were invited to watch. It was lovely to see all the new playmakers taking on their new roles and directing the activities throughout the day. A great day had by all.

Meet our Playmakers and Mini Leaders - September 2018

Congratulations to all our playmakers and mini leaders on passing their training, these young sports ambassadors will be out at break and lunch with a wide range of physical activities to keep our school active, healthy and promote a positive mindset and wellbeing.

Playmaker Training - July 2018

 This week our new playmakers received their training ready for them to use when we return in September, they all passed with flying colours and are now fully trained to support the rest of the school and each other at lunchtimes.

Kwik Cricket - June 2018

 Today our cricket team travelled to a very windy Whitwell Cricket Club to represent Barlborough in the Kwik Cricket cluster tournament. Competing against 4 other schools to show that with teamwork, trust and respect for each other you can achieve anything. Well done for winning all your matches and becoming Kwik Cricket Champions 2017-18

Sports Hall Athletics - April 2018

 Our athletics team went to Derby University of Sport today to compete in the Sports Hall County Final after performing brilliantly and winning our cluster and District finals earlier in the season. As always these events are very busy, loud and fast paced but our team performed as they have throughout the season, like a well oiled machine. Points are always close and change constantly throughout the event, all 20 children showed great skill and determination, supporting each other loudly, well done Team Barlborough
