PTA bouncy Castle
Children bounced like little Easter bunnies to raise money for the PTA. Children had a great time and there were smiles all round.
Conisbrough Castle
This week we visited Conisbrough Castle. We learnt lots of new facts about castles but also saw some of the things we had learnt in class with our own eyes! We had a walk around the outside of the castle and thought about why a hill was a great place to build a castle. We then explored the bailey and found out what life would have been like for the different people that lived in the castle. We also had the opportunity to go into the keep and find out about Lady Isabelle and Lord Hamlin and see the views from the top of the castle.
World Book Day
We had a super day in year 1, the children dressed as their favourite book characters and enjoyed sharing their books with their friends. Me and Mrs Attia also got to join in the fun! Thank you to all of the parents that supplied or took the time to make an outfit, it made it a very special day.

Winter Wonderland Cars!
This half term as part of our Winter Wonderland topic we created vehicles to transport a penguin egg! We invited parents to nervously watch as we tested our vehicles by pushing them, complete with egg, down the slide. Just about all of the eggs survived! Here are some of the pictures.

Enterprise
Children worked hard to make edible Christmas trees for the children's Christmas fair. We had fun getting messy and had the chance to work on our money skills and raise money for school. Well done year 1!
Anti-bullying superheroes!
This week has been anti-bullying week and we have done a lot of work around what to do if we are getting bullied or if we see somebody else being bullied. We have learnt the meanings of STOP, START and VIP to help us to combat bullying. Today we dressed in blue (colour of anti-bullying) or as superheroes to stand up to bullies. We had a great time making our masks and singing our anti-bullying song to parents.
Gun Powder Plot
This week we started our new topic all about The Gun Powder Plot. As a hook we created our own zooming rockets and had a rocket launching competition!

Seasonal Science
In science we have been looking at seasons, including months of the year. We created our own human bar chart to show when our birthdays are. We then thought about the season our birthday falls in.
Highland Games
To kick off our Scotland topic the children took part in their own Highland Games. They had a great time Welly Wanging, Tossing the Caber, tug of war and throwing the shot put. It was a fun afternoon, even staff joined in! Here are a few photographs.
Baking Time!
We have been baking this week! Linked to our Scotland topic, we have followed a recipe to create our own yummy shortbread. Children then wrote their own recipe in English and will have to chance to be TV chefs and film each other in computing.
