Welcome from the Head
As Headteacher, I am immensely proud of our school and all that we offer. Our school motto is ‘Aiming Higher – Together’ and this is something that we all firmly believe in. By working together, not only as a staff team but also with our pupils’ families, we aim to provide the best opportunities for all of our children to succeed. Our experienced and enthusiastic staff always put our children first and their commitment is clear in how they always go the extra mile.
Our children are our priority and we aim for every child’s experience at Barlborough to be positive and a time that they will look back on fondly. We nurture our children so that they feel happy and safe and they are therefore ready to learn. We treat every child as an individual, adapting the curriculum to meet their particular needs and celebrating success which is pertinent and special to them. Our children develop academically, physically, socially, culturally and spiritually and we are confident in the enriched curriculum that we offer.
We have high expectations of all our children in relation to their academic achievement and we endeavour for every child to reach their full potential by offering them the support and encouragement that they both need and deserve. We want our children to develop a real love of learning and for them to strive to be the very best that they can be. We are very proud of our children’s attainment and our end of Key Stage 2 results reflect the hard work of the children and staff throughout the children’s time with us.
We also have high expectations of our children’s behaviour and we take great pleasure in helping our children blossom into polite, well-mannered and resilient young people who are well equipped to think independently and well informed to make the right choices. Our children love being part of the Barlborough family and many children give up their own time to take on positions of responsibility whether this is the prestigious position of head boy/girl, leading their house, a member of the school council or one of numerous other groups such as play leaders or our Optimistic Owls (anti-bullying and anti-stigma team).
Barlborough Primary School has a reputation for being at the very heart of the local community and we work hard to maintain this. We have excellent links with other establishments within the area and a very proactive PTA who work incredibly hard to further enhance the children’s school experience.
I feel very privileged to be the Headteacher of such a thriving, successful and happy school, where I get to enjoy working with such wonderful pupils, staff and parents.
I look forward to working with you and I thank you for supporting our school.
